Year 1996-2004
Centre of Contemporary Art of the Kingdom of Bahrain by Jean-Marc Sinan
One hundred Indian workers, three million six hundred thousand hours in six years
of architectural refurbishment and innovation design, "master work insitu" eleven thousand sqare metres were formed and restored by Jean-Marc
Sinan under the theme of childhood.
The project is divided into two sections: the first is the restoration of the old historical monument, the principal building, built in the early 20th century and the other is the culmination of the renovation of six new buildings within the old idefice, demonstrating the merging of two cultures.
The fusion shows the harmony between European and Arabic cultures during the same epoch and the way they co-existed in an authentic human atmosphere. The masterwork is based on the vision of angles, materiality, textures, proportion, of round and geometric volumes, the invisible energy according to the light, the handmande coloration of each square meter of the walls, the culture generated from the simplicity and water flowing from the handmade fountain by Jean-Marc Sinan, weighing twenty-six tonnes.
The Center of Contemporary Art offers one thousand two hundred square metres of rosewood space for the exquisite elegance as well as a state-of-the-art.
The interior design such as the tables, the chairs, the curtains, hand doors, pottery, has been developed by Jean-Marc Sinan on the site, nothing has been brought from outside.
The opening was under the patronage of her highness Shaika Sabika bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of his majesty the King, on May 28, 2002.
